  • Day 1: Leh

    Visit Kargil War Memorial, located near Dras, is a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts. The memorial pays tribute to the brave soldiers who lost their lives in the Kargil War. Take some time to honor the sacrifices the soldiers made for their country.

  • Day 3: Pangong Lake
    Distance: 223 km | Time: 5 hours 50 minutes

    Pangong Lake is a beautiful blue-green lake that stretches across the border of India and China. The stunning color of the lake contrasts with the brown arid mountains that surround it. Make sure to capture the beautiful view of the lake in your camera.

  • Day 4: Kardhungla Pass
    Distance: 70 km | Time: 2 hours 20 minutes

    Kardhungla Pass is the highest motorable pass in the world, located at an altitude of 18,360 feet (5,602 m). You can witness the panoramic beauty of the Himalayas from the top. Do not forget to stop at the memorial to the soldiers who lost their lives while constructing the road.

  • Day 5: Night Stay in Nubra Valley
    Distance: 136 km | Time: 4 hours

    Drive to Nubra Valley, located at an average altitude of 10,000 feet (3048 m). The journey itself is mesmerizing, and the landscape here is spectacular. Enjoy a night stay at a local stay/home-stay, where you can taste local Tibetan food.

  • Day 6: Diskit Sand Dunes
    Distance: 25 km | Time: 40 minutes

    Head towards Diskit Sand Dunes, an unusual landscape where sand dunes mingle with snow-covered mountains. Do not miss a ride on the double-humped Bactrian camel.

  • Day 7: Departure
    Departure

    Time to say goodbye! Check-out of the hotel and head towards the airport for your flight back home.

Transportation

It is advisable to hire a taxi for the entire trip as there is no public transport available between these locations. The taxi will cost INR 14,000-16,000 for 4 days. However, in case you do not wish to hire the taxi, motorcycles are also available on rent.

Useful Tips

In case you have more time, plan a visit to Tso Moriri and Tso Kar which is a 4-5 day itinerary. If you have less time, you can exclude Kardhungla Pass and Diskit sand dunes from your itinerary.

The main airport in Ladakh is Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport (IXL) located in Leh. It is connected to major cities in India like Delhi, Mumbai, and Srinagar. The airport is 3 km away from the city center.
