Tirupati and Rameshwaram 3-Day Itinerary in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Tirupati
    12 minutes (4.3 km) from Tirupati Airport

    Start your day with a visit to Sri Venkateswara Temple, one of the most famous pilgrimage sites in India. Avoid the crowds by arriving early and enjoy a peaceful darshan (viewing of the deity). Afternoon, visit the nearby Sri Kapileshwara Swamy Temple and Sri Kalyana Venkateswara Swamy Temple. In the evening, explore the beautiful Talakona Waterfall and experience the stunning views of the surrounding forest.

  2. Day 2: Rameshwaram
    3 hours 45 minutes (170 km) from Tirupati

    In the morning, visit Ramanathaswamy Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlinga temples in India. The temple is known for its stunning architecture and religious significance. In the afternoon, explore the former residence of former Indian president APJ Abdul Kalam, the Kalam House. In the evening, visit Dhanushkodi, the ghost town that was destroyed by a cyclone in 1964. Here you can witness the merging of the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean.

  3. Day 3: Tirupati
    3 hours 45 minutes (170 km) from Rameshwaram

    Start your day with a visit to Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple, dedicated to the consort of Lord Venkateswara. In the afternoon, visit Chandragiri Fort, which has a rich history dating back to the 11th century. Here you can explore ancient palaces, temples, and a museum that showcases artefacts from the Vijayanagara Empire. In the evening, take a stroll in the beautiful Sri Venkateswara Zoological Park and enjoy the natural surroundings.

Recommendations

If you have more time, consider visiting the Sri Kalahasti Temple, located just 36 km from Tirupati. It is known for its stunning architecture and the famous Rahu-Ketu-Kala Sarpa Dosha Nivarana Puja. You can also take a day trip to the nearby town of Vellore, where you can visit the Vellore Fort and the famous Golden Temple.
