Kedarnath and Tungnath 4-Day Itinerary in October 2023

  1. Day 1: Kedarnath
    6 hours (112 km) from Dehradun

    In the morning, head to Kedarnath Temple, one of the holiest Hindu shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is located at a height of 3,583 meters and can be reached by a trek of around 16 km from Gaurikund. It is recommended to start the trek early in the morning to avoid the afternoon rush. The trek offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. Afternoon can be spent exploring the nearby Kedarnath Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to a variety of flora and fauna.   2. Day 2: Tungnath
    2 hours (42 km) from Kedarnath

    In the morning, head to Tungnath Temple, which is the highest Shiva temple in the world and located at a height of 3,680 meters. The temple can be reached by a trek of 4 km from Chopta. The trek offers stunning views of the Himalayan range and the valley below. Afternoon can be spent exploring Deoria Tal, which is a beautiful lake surrounded by forests and mountains. In the evening, head back to Chopta and witness the beautiful sunset from the top of the hill.

  3. Day 3: Rudraprayag
    5 hours (150 km) from Tungnath

    In the morning, head to Rudraprayag, which is a picturesque town located at the confluence of the Alaknanda and Mandakini rivers. Visit the ancient Koteshwar Mahadev temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Afternoon can be spent exploring the nearby Khirsu Village, which is known for its apple orchards and offers stunning views of the snow-capped Himalayan range. In the evening, take a stroll along the banks of the river and witness the beautiful sunset.

  4. Day 4: Rishikesh

In the evening, witness the Ganga Aarti at Parmarth Niketan Ashram, which is a beautiful ceremony of lights and sound and offers a mesmerizing experience.
