One Day in Udipi: Temples, Beaches and Local Flavors

    Take a break from the temple visits and head to the beach. Malpe Beach offers stunning views of the Arabian Sea and is perfect for a morning dip or a walk along the shoreline. You can also try the local delicacy - fish curry and rice at one of the beachside shacks.

    Head to this local restaurant for a taste of authentic Udupi cuisine. The restaurant is known for its thali which includes a variety of vegetarian dishes like sambar, rasam, and kori sukka. Finish your meal with a bowl of payasam, a sweet dish made with vermicelli and jaggery.

  5. 4:00PM: Anegudde Vinayaka Temple
    45 minutes (15 miles) from Mitra Samaj

    Wrap up your temple tour with a visit to this ancient temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha. The temple is situated on a hill and offers panoramic views of the surrounding areas. The temple is believed to have healing powers and attracts a lot of devotees.

    30 minutes (7 miles) from Anegudde Vinayaka Temple

    End your day with a visit to the bustling fish market at Malpe. The market is known for its fresh catch and you can see the fishermen bringing in their daily haul. You can also buy some fish to take back home or to your hotel for a seafood feast.

Recommendations

If you have time, visit the St. Mary's Island which is a short ferry ride away from Malpe Beach. The island is famous for its hexagonal basaltic columns and white sand beaches. You can also consider a day trip to the nearby town of Manipal which has great cafes, a university museum and a beautiful lake.
