2-Day Family-Friendly Itinerary from Janakpur to Pashupatinath in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Janaki Temple
    10 minutes (3.2 km) from Janakpur Airport

    Start your day at the historic Janaki Temple, dedicated to the Hindu goddess Sita. Admire the stunning architecture and intricate carvings on the temple walls. In the morning, take part in the daily puja ceremonies and witness the devotees' devotion. In the afternoon, take a stroll around the temple complex and explore the various shrines and ponds. In the evening, enjoy the Sound and Light show that narrates the story of Ramayana, the epic Hindu mythological tale of Lord Rama and Sita.

  2. Day 2: Bhaktapur Durbar Square
    1 hour 45 minutes (20.3 km) from Janakpur Airport

    Travel to Bhaktapur Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in the morning. Admire the ancient Nepali architecture and explore the various temples, museums, and galleries. In the afternoon, head to the Pottery Square, where you can witness the traditional pottery-making process and even try your hand at it. In the evening, head to Nagarkot, a hill station that offers stunning views of the Himalayan range. Enjoy the sunset and a warm cup of tea before heading back to your hotel.

  3. Day 3: Pashupatinath Temple

If you have an extra day, consider visiting the Chitwan National Park, known for its wildlife, including Bengal tigers, one-horned rhinos, and Asian elephants. Another option is to take a day trip to the nearby city of Patan, known for its traditional Newari architecture and art.
