Family-Friendly 3-Day Itinerary for Mangalore and Madikeri in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Mangalore Beaches
    20 minutes (6.7 miles) from Mangalore International Airport

    In the morning, head to Tannirbhavi Beach, known for its clean white sand and calm waters. Rent a paddleboat to explore the Arabian Sea. For lunch, stop at Giri Manja's, which serves delicious seafood. Spend the afternoon at Panambur Beach, where you can enjoy water sports such as jet skiing and parasailing. In the evening, visit the illuminated Ullal Bridge, which offers stunning views of the sunset over the Netravati River.

  2. Day 2: Madikeri Hill Station
    3 hours (87.2 miles) from Mangalore Beaches

    Spend the morning trekking in the beautiful Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary, where you can spot elephants, tigers, and various species of birds. For lunch, stop at the famous East End Hotel for some authentic Coorg cuisine. In the afternoon, visit the Raja's Seat, a beautiful garden and viewpoint, to enjoy the breathtaking view of the surrounding hills. Spend the evening at Abbey Falls, a stunning waterfall that cascades down from a height of 70 feet.

  3. Day 3: Dubare Elephant Camp
    1 hour 45 minutes (45.6 miles) from Madikeri Hill Station

    In the morning, take a guided tour of the Dubare Elephant Camp, a project undertaken by the Forest Department and Jungle Lodges and Resorts. Here, you can bathe and feed the elephants, and even take an elephant ride. For lunch, head to River View Restaurant, which serves delicious Indian and Chinese cuisine. Spend the afternoon at the Madikeri Fort, a historical monument built in the 17th century. In the evening, witness the spectacular light and sound show at the fort, which showcases the history of Coorg.

Don't miss out on visiting the Omkareshwara Temple in Madikeri, a beautiful blend of Hindu and Islamic architecture. You can also take a day trip to the Nagarhole National Park, which is home to a variety of wildlife such as elephants, tigers, and leopards.
