4-Day Jaipur Itinerary for City Experiences in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Hawa Mahal
10 minutes (2.4 km) from Jaipur Railway Station

Start your day at Hawa Mahal, the Palace of Winds. This 5-story pink sandstone structure is adorned with intricate latticework and over 900 small windows, providing a refreshing breeze in the hot summer months. In the morning, take a guided tour to learn about the palace's rich history and architecture. Afternoon can be spent exploring the local bazaars and trying Rajasthani street food. In the evening, head to Nahargarh Fort for spectacular sunset views of the city.

  2. Day 2: City Palace and Jantar Mantar
15 minutes (4.4 km) from Hawa Mahal

Start at City Palace, a sprawling complex of courtyards, gardens, and buildings. The palace was built between 1729 and 1732 and has a rich collection of artifacts, textiles, and artwork. Afternoon, visit Jantar Mantar, an astronomical observatory. It contains 19 large instruments, including the world's largest sundial. In the evening, head to Chokhi Dhani, a traditional Rajasthani village-themed restaurant to enjoy local cuisine and cultural performances.

  3. Day 3: Amer Fort and Jaigarh Fort
30 minutes (12.9 km) from City Palace

Drive to Amer Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The fort is built of red sandstone and marble, and features a maze of courtyards, palaces, and temples. You can take an elephant ride to the fort entrance, but we recommend walking to enjoy the stunning views. Afternoon, visit Jaigarh Fort, a hilltop fortress that houses the world's largest cannon on wheels - the Jaivana. In the evening, explore the lively bars and cafes of the old city.

  4. Day 4: Albert Hall Museum and Birla Mandir
20 minutes (5 km) from Jaigarh Fort

Start at Albert Hall Museum, the oldest museum in Jaipur. It has a vast collection of artifacts, including sculptures, paintings, and carpets. Afternoon, visit Birla Mandir, a modern temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi. It is made of white marble and has stunning stained glass windows. In the evening, head to Tapri Central for a cup of chai and a panoramic view of the city.
