Exploring Pondicherry on a Motorcycle

  1. Day 1: Auroville
    20 minutes (7.5 km) from Pondicherry City Center

    Start your day early and ride towards Auroville, an experimental township that houses people from different cultures and backgrounds. Visit the famous Matri Mandir golden dome and take a walk around the beautiful gardens. Enjoy a delicious breakfast at one of the many cafes within Auroville.

    In the afternoon, explore the various boutiques and stores that sell handmade products ranging from pottery to clothing. Visit the Auroville Bakery and pick up some fresh bread and pastries before heading back to Pondicherry.

    In the evening, take a stroll along the Promenade Beach and witness the beautiful sunset. End the day with a seafood dinner at the famous Le Dupleix restaurant.

  2. Day 2: Gingee Fort
    1 hour 30 minutes (70.9 km) from Pondicherry City Center

    Start your day early as it is a long ride to Gingee Fort. This historic fort was built by the Chola dynasty and has been a witness to several historic battles. After reaching the fort, hike up to the top for a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape. Carry plenty of water and snacks for the hike.

    In the afternoon, ride to the nearby temple town of Thiruvannamalai and visit the famous Arunachaleswarar Temple. Take a walk around the town and visit the various shops that sell traditional handicrafts.

    In the evening, ride back to Pondicherry and witness the beautiful light show at the Pondicherry Museum. End the day with a dinner at Surguru Restaurant, famous for its authentic South Indian cuisine.
