Adventure Day in Guwahati - June 2023

    Embark on a thrilling jeep safari in the Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary, home to the one-horned rhinoceros. With over 100 rhinos, the sanctuary offers a great opportunity to spot these majestic creatures up close. Other animals that can be spotted here include wild buffalo, deer, and wild boars.

  3. 1:00PM: Lunch at Paradise Restaurant
    1 hour 30 minutes (87 km) from Pobitora Wildlife Sanctuary

    Enjoy a leisurely cruise along the mighty Brahmaputra river, one of the largest rivers in the world. The cruise offers stunning views of the city and the surrounding hills. You may even spot some dolphins if you're lucky!

  5. 6:00PM: Umananda Temple
    10 minutes (2.5 km) from Brahmaputra River Cruise

    Visit the Umananda Temple, located on a small island in the middle of the Brahmaputra river. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is believed to be one of the oldest temples in the country. The island also offers great views of the sunset over the river.

Recommendations

If you have more time, consider visiting the Kaziranga National Park, home to the one-horned rhinoceros, elephants and tigers. The park is located about 200 km from Guwahati and requires a full day to explore. For adventure seekers, Guwahati offers river rafting, trekking and camping opportunities in the nearby hills. To maximize your fun, start early in the day and plan your itinerary well in advance.
