Two Days in Chikkamagalur: A Nature Lover's Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Mullayanagiri Peak
    20 minutes (9.3 miles) from Chikkamagalur town center

    In the morning, head to the highest peak in Karnataka, Mullayanagiri. The trek to the top is moderate and will take you around 3 hours (round trip). Make sure to carry enough water and snacks for the trek. Once at the peak, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking 360-degree views of the Western Ghats. In the afternoon, visit the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to several species of flora and fauna, including tigers, leopards, and elephants.   2. Day 2: Kudremukh National Park
    1 hour 45 minutes (50 miles) from Chikkamagalur town center

    Start your day early and head to the Kudremukh National Park. The drive itself is scenic, and the park is home to several endemic species of flora and fauna. Trek to the Kudremukh peak which is a difficult hike and takes around 5-6 hours. The trek will take you through lush green forests and streams, and you'll be rewarded with stunning views of the surrounding hills. In the afternoon, visit the Hebbe Falls, situated in the Kemmanagundi hill station. The falls are surrounded by dense forests and coffee plantations. Take a dip in the refreshing water or just relax by the falls. In the evening, head back to town and visit the Hirekolale Lake. The lake is serene and is an excellent spot to unwind and take in the natural beauty of Chikkamagalur.
