4-Day Adventure Itinerary in Wayanad

  1. Day 1: Chembra Peak
    1 hour 20 minutes (34.3 km) from Wayanad

    Start your day early and head to Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanad. The trek to the peak takes around 3-4 hours and is moderately difficult.     Today, head to the Edakkal Caves, a unique archaeological site that features ancient rock etchings and carvings. The trek to the caves takes around 30-45 minutes, and is moderately difficult. Along the way, you'll pass through lush forests and stunning views of the surrounding hills. After exploring the caves, head to the nearby Phantom Rock, a natural rock formation that resembles a human skull. In the afternoon, visit the Banasura Sagar Dam, the largest earthen dam in India. Take a boat ride on the reservoir, or go kayaking and enjoy the views of the surrounding hills.

  3. Day 3: Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary
    1 hour 9 minutes (29.4 km) from Edakkal Caves

    Today, head to the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, a protected area that is home to a variety of flora and fauna. The sanctuary offers jeep safaris, trekking and birdwatching tours, and is best visited in the early morning or late afternoon. Keep your eyes peeled for elephants, tigers, leopards, and various species of birds. After the safari, visit the nearby Thirunelli Temple, an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Take a dip in the nearby Papanasini River, which is believed to have purifying properties.

  4. Day 4: Kuruvadweep
    1 hour 15 minutes (38.2 km) from Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary

    On your last day in Wayanad, head to Kuruvadweep, a group of small islands on the Kabini River. The islands are known for their diverse flora and fauna, and are a popular spot for picnics and nature walks. After exploring the islands, head to the nearby Tholpetty Wildlife Sanctuary, another protected area that is home to elephants, tigers, leopards, and numerous species of birds. Take a jeep safari through the sanctuary and marvel at the natural beauty of the area. In the evening, head back to Wayanad and enjoy a relaxing meal at one of the local restaurants.
