Exploring Family-Friendly Goa Panjim in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Visit the Basilica of Bom Jesus
    20 minutes (6.4 km) from Dabolim Airport

    In the morning, head to the Basilica of Bom Jesus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its Baroque architecture and holding the remains of St. Francis Xavier. Afterward, visit the nearby Goa State Museum to learn about Goa's history, art and culture. In the afternoon, take a stroll through the Fontainhas neighborhood, known for its Portuguese-style colorful houses and cobbled streets. End the day with dinner at Viva Panjim, which serves authentic Goan cuisine.

  2. Day 2: Explore the Beaches of North Goa
    30 minutes (16.4 km) from Panjim City

    Begin the day at Calangute Beach, one of the most popular beaches in Goa, where you can rent water sports equipment, sunbathe or take a dip in the sea. After lunch at one of the beach shacks, make your way to the Aguada Fort, a 17th-century Portuguese fort with panoramic views of the Arabian Sea. End the day with a visit to the Saturday Night Market in Arpora, where you can shop for souvenirs and enjoy live music and food stalls.

  3. Day 3: Wildlife at Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary
    1 hour (37.4 km) from Panjim City

    Spend the day at Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary, a nature reserve with a zoo, botanical garden and deer park. Take a guided tour to learn about the various flora and fauna of Goa or go for a hike in the woods. In the evening, visit the nearby Tambdi Surla Temple, the oldest Hindu temple in Goa, dedicated to Lord Shiva. End the day with dinner at Ritz Classic, a popular restaurant serving Goan and Indian cuisine.

Recommendations

For a day trip, visit the Spice Plantation in Ponda, where you can see how spices are grown and used in Goan cuisine. You can also take a day trip to the Dudhsagar Falls, one of the highest waterfalls in India. To maximize your fun, try the water sports activities at Baga Beach, such as parasailing, jet ski, or banana boat ride. Don't forget to try the famous seafood of Goa and shop for souvenirs at the local markets.
