7-Day Adventure Itinerary for Ladakh in March 2024

  1. Day 1: Spituk Monastery
    15 minutes (4.1km) from Leh

    Start your trip with the stunning views of the Indus Valley and visit the Spituk Monastery in the morning. In the afternoon, explore the Magnetic Hill to experience the mysterious magnetic phenomenon and visit the Gurudwara Patthar Sahib. In the evening, explore the Shanti Stupa to witness the beautiful sunset over the city.

  2. Day 2: Pangong Lake
    5 hours (160km) from Leh

    Visit the world-famous Pangong Lake lying on the Indo-China border. The lake is a photographer's paradise with its crystal-clear waters changing colours throughout the day. Take a break at Chang La Pass, the third highest motorable pass in the world, en route. Return to Leh by evening.

  3. Day 3: Nubra Valley
    4 hours (120km) from Leh

    Drive to the scenic Nubra Valley in the morning. Visit the Diskit Monastery, one of the oldest and largest monasteries in the region, and enjoy a camel ride on the sand dunes in the afternoon. In the evening, relax in your tented camp and stargaze under the clear skies.

  4. Day 4: Khardung La Pass
    2 hours (50km) from Nubra Valley

    Drive to the highest motorable road in the world, the Khardung La Pass, in the morning. Have breakfast at the highest cafeteria in the world and take in the breathtaking views of the Karakoram Range. In the afternoon, explore the Leh city and visit the Leh Palace and Namgyal Tsemo Monastery.

  5. Day 5: Hemis National Park
    1 hour 30 minutes (40km) from Leh

    Visit the Hemis National Park in the morning, the largest national park in India and home to the elusive snow leopards. Take a guided trek to the Rumbak Valley to spot the snow leopards and other wildlife. In the afternoon, visit the Thiksey Monastery and the Stok Palace Museum.

  6. Day 6: Alchi Monastery
    2 hours (70km) from Leh

    Visit the Alchi Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in the morning. The monastery is known for its unique Kashmiri-style wall paintings and wood carvings. In the afternoon, visit the Lamayuru Monastery, the oldest monastery in Ladakh, and drive through the moon-like landscapes of the Ladakh region.

  7. Day 7: Tso Moriri Lake
    6 hours (220km) from Leh

    Visit the Tso Moriri Lake in the morning, a high-altitude lake surrounded by snow-capped mountains and home to migratory birds. On the way, visit the Chumathang hot springs and the Nomadic Rebo tents. Return to Leh by evening.

Recommendations

Don't miss the Chadar Trek, a unique winter trek on the frozen Zanskar River, if you're visiting in January or February. You can also explore the Zanskar Valley, raft on the Indus River, and go mountain biking on the challenging trails in Ladakh.
