In the morning, explore the beautiful Sim’s Park. The park was started as a pleasure resort in the early nineteenth century by the then collector of Coimbatore, Mr. J.D. Sims and is now a botanical garden. Spend your day amidst lush green trees, colourful flowers and a variety of plants. Afternoon, visit the Pasteur Institute to learn about the making of vaccines and its history. In the evening, enjoy a cup of tea at the Tranquilitea tea lounge. Their tea is made from organic tea plants grown right on the premises.
Visit Catherine Falls, a double-cascaded waterfall located in the Nilgiris district. Trek up the mountain to reach the top of the waterfall and take in the panoramic view of the valley below. In the afternoon, head to the Deer Park and click some memorable pictures with the spotted beauties. End your day by visiting the famous Lambs Rock viewpoint for a stunning view of the surrounding hills and valleys.
Take a ride on Nilgiri Mountain Railway, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The train journey will take you through beautiful landscapes of tea estates, dark forests, and waterfalls. In the afternoon, visit the Highfield Tea Factory to learn about tea plucking and processing. Wrap up your 3-day itinerary by visiting the Wellington gymkhana club. The club has a golf course, a library, and a museum that showcases the history of the Nilgiris.
If you’re interested in wildlife, you can visit the Sim’s Park Zoo. For more trekking experiences, you can visit the Droog Fort, a historic fort located 15 km from Coonoor. You can also take a day trip to Ooty, a popular hill station located 20 km from Coonoor.
