Exploring Goa in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Baga Beach
    1-hour drive (11 miles) from Goa International Airport

    Morning: Take a dip in the Arabian Sea at Baga Beach. The beach is less crowded in the morning, so you can enjoy the beauty of the beach and the sea. The shacks on the beach are open and serve breakfast, such as poha, upma, and parathas.
    Afternoon: Rent a scooter or a bike and visit the famous Fort Aguada. Explore the fort, learn about its history and enjoy the panoramic view of the Arabian Sea from the top of the fort.
    Evening: Visit the Saturday Night Market at Arpora. The market offers live music, food, and a variety of items for sale, including clothes, jewelry, and souvenirs.

  2. Day 2: Dudhsagar Waterfalls
    2-hour drive (47 miles) from Baga Beach

    Morning: Drive to the Dudhsagar Waterfalls. The falls are at their best in the monsoon season, so don't miss this opportunity to witness the falls in all their glory.
    Afternoon: After a refreshing dip in the falls, visit the Tambdi Surla Temple, an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Take a guided tour to learn about the temple's history and architecture.
    Evening: Head back to Baga Beach and enjoy dinner at Britto's, a popular beachside restaurant known for its seafood.

  3. Day 3: Fontainhas
    30-minute drive (7 miles) from Baga Beach

    Morning: Explore the Latin Quarter of Panaji, Fontainhas. This UNESCO World Heritage site is known for its winding streets, vibrant colours, and charming Portuguese-style houses.
    Afternoon: Visit the nearby Museum of Christian Art, which houses a collection of sculptures, paintings, and other artefacts related to Goa's Christian heritage.
    Evening: Head to the nearby Miramar Beach to watch the sunset and enjoy a leisurely stroll on the beach.

  4. Day 4: Anjuna Flea Market
    20-minute drive (5 miles) from Baga Beach

    Morning: Visit the Anjuna Flea Market, which has been around since the 1960s. The market offers a wide variety of goods, including clothes, jewellery, handicrafts, and souvenirs.
    Afternoon: Enjoy lunch at Curlie's, a beachside restaurant that offers a variety of cuisines and live music performances.
    Evening: End your trip with a party at the iconic Tito's Lane, a street known for its clubs and bars.

Recommendations

If you have more time, consider taking a day trip to the scenic Chapora Fort or the picturesque Palolem Beach. For adventure lovers, scuba diving and snorkelling are popular activities in Goa. You can also take a spice plantation tour to learn about the spice trade and taste some of the local spices. Don't forget to try some of the local seafood dishes, such as prawn curry and fish thali.
