3-Day Itinerary from Chennai to Coorg in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Explore the Enchanting Hill Station
    6 hours 45 minutes (340 km) from Chennai

    In the morning, visit the stunning Abbey Falls to witness its cascading beauty and take a nature walk in the coffee plantations nearby. Then, head to Raja's Seat, a scenic viewpoint offering a panoramic view of the mountains. In the afternoon, explore the Omkareshwara Temple, famous for its unique mix of Islamic and Gothic styles of architecture and the Madikeri Fort, which has a historical significance. In the evening, take a relaxing walk around the beautiful Kaveri Nisargadhama forest and visit the nearby Harangi Backwaters for a beautiful sunset.

  2. Day 2: Experience the Authentic Coorg Culture
    1 hour 10 minutes (35 km) from Madikeri

    Begin your day by visiting the Dubare Elephant Camp, where you can learn about the life and daily routines of elephants and even participate in a bath with them. After that, head to the Namdroling Monastery, the largest teaching center of the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism outside of Tibet. In the afternoon, visit the Talakaveri temple, situated on the Brahmagiri hills, which is the source of the Kaveri river. Later, head to the Chiklihole Reservoir, a serene spot, to enjoy the sunset and take in the breathtaking views of the surroundings.

  3. Day 3: Explore the Natural Wonders of Coorg
    3 hours 40 minutes (150 km) from Madikeri

    Begin your day by visiting the Iruppu Falls, a beautiful waterfall that is believed to cleanse one's sins. After that, proceed to the Nagarhole National Park for an exciting jungle safari, where you can spot wild animals like tigers, elephants, and more. In the afternoon, visit the Gaddige Raja's Tomb to observe the Indo-Sarcenic style of architecture and the nearby Chelavara Falls, which is a splendid sight to behold. In the evening, take a walk through the coffee plantations and indulge in some aromatic coffee and local delicacies.
