5-Day Adventurous Itinerary for Leh Ladakh in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Leh City
    10 minutes (2.5 km) from Leh Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport

  2. Day 2: Nubra Valley
    4 hours (120 km) from Leh City

    Start the day early and drive through the Khardung La Pass, one of the world's highest motorable passes, to reach Nubra Valley. Learn about the valley's unique double-humped Bactrian camels at the Hunder Sand Dunes in the morning. In the afternoon, visit the Diskit Monastery, with its 32-meter statue of Maitreya Buddha, and explore the nearby markets. Spend the evening camping under the stars in the beautiful valley.

  3. Day 3: Pangong Tso
    5 hours (152 km) from Nubra Valley

    Drive to Pangong Tso, a high-altitude lake that stretches for miles into Tibet. Stop for lunch at the Chang La Pass, the third highest motorable pass in the world.   4. Day 4: Zanskar River Rafting

    Enjoy a thrilling day of rafting on the Zanskar River, which runs through a spectacular gorge. The rapids here range from Class II to Class IV, making it a perfect spot for adventure enthusiasts.   5. Day 5: Kargil War Memorial and Lamayuru Monastery
