Nature-Filled Itinerary for 2 Days in Nagarhole in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Nagarhole National Park
    30 minutes (17.5 km) from Hunsur

    Begin your day early and explore the natural beauty of Nagarhole National Park. Take a jeep safari and spot some of the most magnificent creatures of the wild, such as Bengal tigers, Indian elephants, and leopards. You can also take a guided walking tour, and witness the birds and butterflies that thrive in the park. After a satisfying morning, head on to grab a local lunch from one of the food stalls outside the park. In the afternoon, visit the Iruppu Falls, a scenic waterfall located in the Brahmagiri Mountains. Take a dip in the cool water and take in the breathtaking view of the falls. In the evening, head back to your hotel and rest up for another day of adventure.

  2. Day 2: Kutta and Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary
    1 hour 30 minutes (67 km) from Nagarhole National Park

    Start your day at Kutta, a small hamlet in Kodagu district, and visit the Thirunelli Temple, an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Take a guided trek in the Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary, and enjoy the scenic beauty of lush green forests, streams, and waterfalls. The sanctuary is home to several species, including tigers, leopards, and elephants. Have lunch at one of the local restaurants, and then visit the Pakshipathalam Bird Sanctuary in the afternoon. Observe the beautiful birds and butterflies that are unique to this sanctuary. In the evening, head back to your hotel and relax.

Recommendations

Don't forget to take a boat ride in the Kabini River, which runs through Nagarhole National Park. You can also visit the Dubare Elephant Camp, where you can interact with elephants and observe their daily routines. If you are interested in day trips, you can visit the famous Mysore Palace or the Abbey Falls in Coorg.
