Relaxing 3-Day Itinerary in Mandu in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Jahaz Mahal
    10 minutes (2.5 km) from Hotel Royal Palace

    Start your day by visiting the beautiful Jahaz Mahal, which was built in the 15th century and is located in the middle of a lake. This palace is a perfect place to relax and take in the serene surroundings. Afterward, head to the nearby Hindola Mahal and Taveli Mahal, which are also worth a visit. In the afternoon, stop by the Baz Bahadur Palace and Rupmati Pavilion, where you can enjoy a stunning view of the valley below. In the evening, take a stroll around the Jahaz Mahal lake and watch the sunset.

  2. Day 2: Mandu Fort

    Begin your day by exploring the Mandu Fort, which is one of the largest forts in India. This fort is home to many palaces, tombs, and mosques, including the famous Jama Masjid and Hoshang Shah's Tomb. Afterward, visit the nearby Jain Temple and Champa Baoli, which is a beautiful stepwell. In the afternoon, explore the nearby Rewa Kund and then visit the Ashrafi Mahal and Hindola Mahal. In the evening, head back to the Mandu Fort and watch the light and sound show.

  3. Day 3: Bagh Caves

    On your final day, visit the Bagh Caves, which are a group of nine rock-cut monuments. These caves date back to the 5th century and are known for their stunning frescoes and sculptures. In the afternoon, stop by the nearby Dhar Fort and then head to the nearby town of Maheshwar, where you can visit the Ahilya Fort, Narmada Ghat, and Maheshwar Temple. In the evening, enjoy a boat ride on the Narmada River and watch the aarti ceremony.

If you have extra time, consider visiting the Mandu Eco Point, which is a beautiful nature reserve, or the Shri Mandavgarh Teerth, which is a holy Jain pilgrimage site. You can also take a day trip to the nearby city of Indore, which is known for its street food and bazaars.
