New Delhi Railway Station on a Shoestring Budget: A 1-day Itinerary - June 2023

    Visit one of the largest mosques in India, built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in 1656. Marvel at the stunning red sandstone and marble architecture and take in the peaceful atmosphere.     5 minutes (1.2 km) from Jama Masjid

    Explore the grand Red Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and former residence of Mughal emperors. Admire the intricate details of the red sandstone walls, visit the various museums inside, and take a stroll through the beautiful gardens. Audio guides are available for a small fee.

    Pay your respects to Mahatma Gandhi at his memorial, located on the banks of the river Yamuna. Take a moment to reflect on his life and legacy, and the important role he played in India's independence movement. The memorial is open from 9:30AM to 6:00PM, except on Mondays.

  5. 5:00PM: Humayun's Tomb
    20 minutes (6 km) from Raj Ghat

    Visit the beautiful tomb of the Mughal emperor Humayun, considered to be the precursor to the Taj Mahal. Admire the intricate Islamic architecture, the well-manicured gardens, and the peaceful ambiance. The tomb is open from sunrise to sunset, and audio guides are available for a fee.

Recommendations
