3-Day Itinerary for Vayanadu in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Edakkal Caves
    30 minutes (13 miles) from Kalpetta

    Discover the ancient rock carvings inside Edakkal Caves, dating back to the Neolithic Age. In the morning, you'll hike up to the caves, taking in the lush greenery and breathtaking views of the surrounding hills. Afterward, grab a quick bite to eat at the on-site restaurant before heading to Soochipara Falls. In the evening, relax at your hotel and enjoy a traditional Kerala dinner.

  2. Day 2: Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary

In the evening, visit the Thirunelli Temple, which is said to date back more than 1,000 years.

  3. Day 3: Banasura Sagar Dam

    On your final day, start by visiting the Banasura Sagar Dam, the largest earthen dam in India. Take a guided tour of the dam and learn about its history and construction. Afterward, head to the nearby Meenmutty Falls for a refreshing dip in the cool waters. In the afternoon, visit the Kuruva Island, an uninhabited island on the Kabini River, known for its stunning natural beauty. Return to your hotel for a final night in Vayanadu.
