3-Day Adventure Itinerary in Wayanad

  1. Day 1: Chembra Peak
    30 minutes (10.8 miles) from Kalpetta

    In the morning, head to Chembra Peak, the highest peak in Wayanad. The trek to the top takes around 3-4 hours and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding hills and valleys. After the trek, head to Pookode Lake for a relaxing afternoon. Take a paddleboat ride or explore the wildlife sanctuary surrounding the lake. As the evening sets in, head to the Banasura Hill Resort for a thrilling zipline experience over the Banasura Sagar Dam.

  2. Day 2: Edakkal Caves and Soochipara Falls
    1 hour (20.3 miles) from Kalpetta

    In the morning, visit the ancient Edakkal Caves, one of the oldest human settlements in India. The trek up to the caves takes around 45 minutes and offers stunning views of the valley. In the afternoon, head to Soochipara Falls, a three-tiered waterfall surrounded by lush green forests. Take a dip in the natural pool, enjoy the beauty of the falls or go for a short hike in the forest. As the evening sets in, visit the Karapuzha Dam for a beautiful sunset view.

  3. Day 3: Thirunelli Temple and Kuruva Island
    1 hour 30 minutes (34 miles) from Kalpetta

    In the morning, visit the ancient Thirunelli Temple, a beautiful temple situated in the Brahmagiri hills surrounded by lush forests. Take a dip in the nearby Papanasini river, which is believed to have healing powers. In the afternoon, head to Kuruva Island, a beautiful river delta surrounded by thick forests. Enjoy a bamboo raft ride on the Kabini River, explore the island, or go for a swim in the river. As the evening sets in, head back to Kalpetta for some souvenir shopping.

If you have time, visit the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to a variety of flora and fauna, including elephants, tigers, and leopards.
