A Day of Adventure in Dindigul

    Dindigul Rock Fort is a historical fort located on a hilltop in the city. The fort is said to be built by the Nayak Kings of Madurai. The trek to the top of the hill is a 20-minute hike. At the top, you can enjoy the scenic beauty of the surroundings and catch a glimpse of the panoramic view of the city.

    15 minutes (3.5 km) from Dindigul Rock Fort

    The Elephant Path is a famous trekking route in Dindigul. It is a 6km stretch of lush green forest, which is home to a variety of flora and fauna. If you're lucky, you might spot some beautiful peacocks or even some small animals during your trek. The trek is of moderate difficulty, taking around 2-3 hours to complete.

  3. 2:00PM: Dindigul Thalappakatti Biriyani

    After your adventurous morning, head over to Dindigul Thalappakatti Biriyani, which is famous for its authentic Tamil Nadu biriyani. Try their popular mutton biriyani, cooked in traditional style with seeraga samba rice and aromatic spices.

    1 hour (30 km) from Dindigul Thalappakatti Biriyani

    Sirumalai is a small hill station located on the outskirts of Dindigul. The place is famous for its pristine forests, waterfalls and viewpoints. Take a dip in the Kumbakkarai falls or trek to the Suruli falls. The trekking trails are of moderate difficulty, taking around 2-3 hours to complete.

  5. 7:00PM: Adiyogi Shiva Statue
    1 hour 30 minutes (50 km) from Sirumalai

    Adiyogi Shiva Statue is the tallest statue of Lord Shiva in India, standing at 34m high. The statue is located in the Isha Yoga Center and is surrounded by the scenic Velliangiri Mountains. The statue is a sight to behold, especially during dusk when the sunset casts a golden glow on the statue.

Recommendations

If you have more time on your hands, you can also visit the Thadikombu Perumal Temple or the Kamarajar Lake. For day trips, head over to the famous Kodaikanal hill station, which is only 2 hours away from Dindigul. Another great destination is the Madurai Meenakshi Temple, which is only 1 hour away from Dindigul.
