5-Day Itinerary: Jaipur to Dwarka, Daman, and Somnath via Train in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Dwarkadhish Temple
    10 minutes (2.4 km) from Dwarka Railway Station

    Begin your day by visiting the famous Dwarkadhish Temple, one of the four most sacred temples in India. Located on the banks of River Gomti, this temple is a significant Hindu pilgrimage site dedicated to Lord Krishna. Spend the afternoon exploring the intricate carvings and architecture of the temple. In the evening, take a stroll along the Dwarka Beach and enjoy the sunset.

  2. Day 2: St. Jerome Fort and Jampore Beach
    1 hour (31.7 km) from Dwarka

    Head to the St. Jerome Fort in Daman, a historical site built in the 16th century by the Portuguese. Explore the fort's various sections, including the governor's palace and the church. After lunch, spend the afternoon at Jampore Beach, a serene and less crowded beach compared to other popular beaches in Daman. In the evening, visit the Devka Beach and enjoy the musical fountain show.

  3. Day 3: Somnath Temple
    8 hours (400 km) from Daman

    Visit the Somnath Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, and one of the most ancient and revered temples of India. Located on the shore of the Arabian Sea, this temple has been destroyed and rebuilt several times throughout history. Spend the day exploring the temple complex and its various attractions, including the light and sound show in the evening.

  4. Day 4: Triveni Sangam and Bhalka Tirtha
    30 minutes (7 km) from Somnath Temple

    Begin your day by visiting the Triveni Sangam, the confluence of three rivers, namely Hiran, Kapila, and Saraswati. This is an important religious site and a dip in the river is considered auspicious. After lunch, visit the Bhalka Tirtha, a sacred pilgrimage site where Lord Krishna is believed to have been shot by an arrow. Spend the evening exploring the nearby markets and trying local delicacies.

  5. Day 5: Gita Mandir and Departure
    2 hours (63 km) from Bhalka Tirtha

    Before departing, visit the Gita Mandir, a beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Krishna and the Bhagavad Gita. The temple features stunning murals and intricate carvings that depict scenes from the Mahabharata. Afterward, make your way to the railway station for your journey back home.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, visit the Nageshwar Jyotirlinga Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, located near Dwarka. You can also take a day trip to Diu, a small island popular for its beaches, historic forts, and Portuguese architecture.
