2-Day Itinerary for Guwahati in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Kamakhya Temple
    20 minutes (5.5 km) from Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport

    In the morning, visit the Kamakhya Temple, a famous Hindu temple dedicated to goddess Kamakhya. The temple is located on the Nilachal Hill and offers a panoramic view of the city. Afternoon, indulge in some street food near the temple. In the evening, visit the Umananda Temple, a small temple located on an island in the middle of the Brahmaputra River. Enjoy a sunset boat ride to the temple.

  2. Day 2: Assam State Museum
    25 minutes (8.2 km) from Kamakhya Temple

    Start your day by visiting the Assam State Museum. The museum houses a rich collection of historical and cultural artifacts from Assam. Afternoon, visit the Paltan Bazaar, one of the busiest markets in Guwahati, to shop for local handicrafts and souvenirs. In the evening, take a stroll along the Brahmaputra Riverfront and enjoy the view of the mighty Brahmaputra River.

Don't miss out on visiting the nearby Hajo, a pilgrimage center for Hindus, Muslims and Buddhists. Also, consider taking a day trip to Shillong, the capital of Meghalaya, also known as 'Scotland of the East'. Since July is monsoon season, make sure to carry an umbrella and raincoat to enjoy the beauty of nature.
