Harishchandragad Trek and Malshej Ghat with Nanighat - 3 Day Itinerary in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Harishchandragad Trek
    4 hours (100 km) from Mumbai

    Start your day early to reach the base village of Pachnai which is the starting point of the trek. The trek to Harishchandragad fort is moderately difficult and takes around 3-4 hours. You will pass through scenic routes, lush greenery, and streams on the way. Upon reaching the top of the fort, you can explore the temple, caves, and temple pond. Enjoy the beautiful view of the surrounding valleys and mountains. After lunch, trek down to reach your hotel in Malshej Ghat where you can relax and take in the beautiful scenery.

  2. Day 2: Malshej Ghat
    30 minutes (20 km) from your hotel

    Start your day by visiting the beautiful Pimpalgaon Joga Dam. This dam is a famous tourist spot and offers breathtaking views of the mountains, valleys, and the glistening water. Next, visit the Malshej Falls which are at their prime during the monsoon season. Enjoy the natural showers and the cool breeze. In the afternoon, visit the Malshej Ghat Bird Sanctuary which is home to several exotic bird species. You can also take a trek along one of the many trekking trails in the area. End your day with a delicious dinner at a local restaurant.

  3. Day 3: Nanighat
    1 hour (40 km) from your hotel

    Visit the Naneghat Pass which is a historic trade route between Kalyan and Junnar. You can explore the ancient caves, inscriptions, and carvings in the area. After that, visit the Kukadeshwar Temple which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple is located in a beautiful natural setting and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. In the afternoon, visit the Ozar Ganpati Temple which is one of the eight Ashtavinayak temples in Maharashtra. End your day with a scenic drive back to Mumbai.

If you have extra time, visit the Shivneri Fort which is the birthplace of the great Maratha warrior, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. You can also visit the nearby Bhimashankar Temple which is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas in India. To maximize your fun, try local delicacies like Vada Pav, Misal Pav, and Bhakri. You can also take a day trip to Lonavala and Khandala which are famous hill stations in Maharashtra.
