Relaxing 2-Day Itinerary for Chikmagalur in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Mullayanagiri Peak
    1 hour 12 minutes (22 miles) from Chikmagalur city center

    In the morning, visit the highest peak in Karnataka, Mullayanagiri. The scenic drive to the peak offers picturesque views of the Western Ghats. On reaching the peak, trek to the top for an amazing 360-degree view of the surrounding valleys and hills.

    For lunch, head to The Serai Resort, which is located nearby and offers excellent dining options. After lunch, visit the nearby Baba Budangiri Hills. The hills are named after the saint Baba Budan and contain several trekking trails. Enjoy the lush green views and fresh air during your trek.

    In the evening, relax at your hotel and enjoy a traditional Coorg-style dinner.

  2. Day 2: Kemmanagundi
    2 hours 15 minutes (68 miles) from Chikmagalur city center

    On Day 2, visit Kemmanagundi, which is also known as the 'Ooty of Karnataka'. The drive to Kemmanagundi is scenic with several waterfalls and forests on the way. On reaching Kemmanagundi, visit the beautiful Hebbe falls and the picturesque Z Point.

    For lunch, head to the Mayura Shantala restaurant, which is known for its authentic Karnataka cuisine.

    In the afternoon, visit the beautiful Raj Bhavan, which is a summer retreat for the governor of Karnataka. The gardens and buildings in the Raj Bhavan complex are a treat for the eyes.

    For dinner, head back to your hotel in Chikmagalur and enjoy a peaceful evening.

Recommendations

If you have time, consider visiting the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary and the coffee plantations in Chikmagalur. For day trips, you can visit the nearby cities of Belur and Halebidu, which are famous for their ancient temples.
