Foodie's Delight in Goa

  1. Day 1: Breakfast at Infantaria
    10 minutes (1.3 miles) from Calangute Beach

    Start your day with a sumptuous breakfast at Infantaria, one of the most famous cafes in Goa. Try their English breakfast, croissants and pancakes. After breakfast, head to the Saturday Night Market in Arpora which opens at 6 PM. You can indulge in some street shopping, buy souvenirs, jewellery, clothes and more. In the evening, head to Gunpowder, a rustic Indian restaurant in Assagao. Try their mutton pepper fry, pork ribs and chicken xacuti with bread or rice.

  2. Day 2: Lunch at Vinayak Family Restaurant
    20 minutes (5.6 miles) from Gunpowder

    Start your day with a visit to the Fort Aguada Lighthouse which dates back to the 17th century. Enjoy the panoramic view of the Arabian sea and Aguada fort. After that, head to Vinayak Family Restaurant, a local gem in Panjim, for some authentic Goan fish thali with rice, fish curry, fried fish, kismur and sol kadi. In the evening, enjoy the sunset at Baga Beach and have dinner at Britto's or Souza Lobo, both offer an array of seafood and cocktails.

  3. Day 3: Visit to Dudhsagar Falls and lunch at Martin's Corner

    Start early and head to the Dudhsagar falls, a four-tiered waterfall located on the Mandovi river. Enjoy the scenic beauty of the waterfall and take a dip in the natural pool. Head to Martin's Corner, a popular seafood restaurant in Betalbatim, for lunch. Try their prawn curry, butter garlic squid and fish recheado. In the evening, visit the Basilica of Bom Jesus, a UNESCO world heritage site, which has the remains of St. Francis Xavier. End your day with a dinner at Viva Panjim, a restaurant with a vintage decor and live music. Try their chicken cafreal and pork vindaloo.

Recommendations

Do not miss the Goan sausages, bebinca, cashew feni and vindaloo while you are in Goa. You can also visit the spice plantations in Ponda and the beaches of Palolem and Morjim. If you have some extra time, go for a day trip to the Dudhsagar wildlife sanctuary or take a cruise down the Mandovi river. Take a walk in the Fontainhas area to see the colourful Portuguese houses.
