3-Day Family Friendly Itinerary for Chickmagalur in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Hirekolale Lake
    20 minutes (8.6 miles) from Chickmagalur city centre

    Start your day by visiting the serene Hirekolale Lake. This lake is known for its calm and peaceful surroundings. Take a stroll along the lakeside, enjoy the lush greenery and breathe in the fresh air. You can also indulge in boating, kayaking and swimming in the lake. In the afternoon, head to Baba Budangiri Hills to witness the beautiful panoramic views of the hills and valleys. The hills are named after Baba Budan, a Muslim saint who introduced coffee to India. You can also visit the Dattatreya Peetha, a temple located on top of the hill. In the evening, make a stop at the Mullayanagiri Peak, the highest peak in Karnataka. The trek up the hill is quite challenging, but the views from the top are worth it.

  2. Day 2: Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary
    1 hour 15 minutes (42.3 miles) from Chickmagalur city centre

    Get up early and head to the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary for an adventurous day. This sanctuary is home to a variety of animals including tigers, leopards, elephants and many others. You can take a jeep safari or trek through the sanctuary to spot these animals in their natural habitat. In the afternoon, visit the Kalhatti Falls, located near the wildlife sanctuary. The waterfalls are surrounded by lush greenery and are a great spot for a picnic with your family. In the evening, visit the Coffee Museum to learn about the history of coffee in India and taste some of the best coffee in the country.

  3. Day 3: Kemmangundi
    2 hours 15 minutes (59.8 miles) from Chickmagalur city centre

    On your last day, visit the beautiful hill station of Kemmangundi. This hill station is known for its beautiful gardens, waterfalls and trekking trails. Start your day by visiting the Z Point, a beautiful viewpoint that offers panoramic views of the hills and valleys. You can also visit the Hebbe Falls, located near the hill station. The falls are surrounded by lush greenery and are a great spot for a picnic. In the afternoon, visit the beautiful gardens of the Raj Bhavan, known for their colourful flowers and well-manicured lawns. In the evening, head back to your hotel in Chickmagalur and relax.
