3-Day Family Friendly Itinerary for Dharmasthala, Hornadu and Medkeri in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Dharmasthala
    2 hours 20 minutes (87 miles) from Mangalore International Airport

    Morning: Start your day at the Shri Manjunatha Swamy Temple, a famous pilgrimage centre in Dharmasthala. Admire the magnificent architecture and the intricate carvings on the walls of the temple.

    Afternoon: Visit Bahubali Statue, the second tallest monolithic statue in the world. Take a few pictures with the statue and enjoy the scenic views of the surrounding landscape.

    Evening: Head to Netravathi River Barrage, a picturesque place where you can relax and enjoy the serene surroundings. Spend some time here with your family and indulge in some water sports activities.

  2. Day 2: Hornadu
    2 hours 45 minutes (87 miles) from Dharmasthala

    Morning: Start your day at Annapoorneshwari Temple, one of the most revered temples in Hornadu. A unique feature of this temple is that it serves meals to all the devotees who visit here.

    Afternoon: Spend your afternoon at nearby Sringeri Sharada Peetham, one of the four main Hindu Advaita Vedanta monastery established by Adi Shankara in 8th century AD. Explore the temple and the nearby garden.

    Evening: Head towards Kalasa (1 hour from Hornadu), and visit the Kalaseshwara Temple. It is believed that the temple was built by sage Agasthya and is also considered as one of the seven kshetras in the region.

  3. Day 3: Madikeri
    3 hours 30 minutes (96 miles) from Hornadu

    Morning: Start your day at the Raja's Seat, a beautiful garden with a breathtaking view of the surrounding hills and valleys. Enjoy a cup of coffee and relax here with your family.

    Afternoon: Visit the famous Abbey Falls, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Madikeri. Take a short trek through the forest to reach the waterfall and spend some time enjoying the natural beauty of the place.

    Evening: End your trip with a visit to Omkareshwara Temple, a beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple has a blend of Gothic and Islamic architecture and is surrounded by a water tank.
