Mumbai Family-Friendly 3-Day Itinerary in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Gateway of India
    33 minutes (8.5 miles) from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus

    Morning: Start your day by visiting the iconic Gateway of India. Built during the British Raj in 1924, it has now become a famous tourist spot. You can enjoy the view of the Arabian sea and take a ferry to the Elephanta Caves from here.
    Afternoon: Head to the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya museum, just a 5-minute walk from the Gateway of India. The museum has a vast collection of art, archaeology, and natural history.
    Evening: End the day by watching the sunset at the Marine Drive. The 3.6 km long promenade is a perfect spot for a leisurely walk or sitting by the sea with a cup of tea.

  2. Day 2: Sanjay Gandhi National Park
    1 hour 30 minutes (24.2 miles) from Gateway of India

    Morning: Spend your day with nature at the Sanjay Gandhi National Park. You can take a safari, trek, or visit the Kanheri caves, which are Buddhist rock-cut caves dating back to 1st century BCE.
    Afternoon: Head to Essel World, one of India's largest amusement parks. It's a perfect place for kids and adults alike with its variety of rides and games.
    Evening: Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city and visit Global Vipassana Pagoda. The meditation hall has the world's largest stone dome without any supporting pillars. You can also take a guided tour to know more about the history and teachings of Buddha.

  3. Day 3: Elephanta Caves

    Morning: Take a ferry from Gateway of India to Elephanta Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The caves have rock-cut temples and sculptures, including the famous Trimurti statue of Lord Shiva.
    Afternoon: Visit the Nehru Science Center, an interactive science museum with various exhibits, shows, and activities for kids and adults alike.
    Evening: End your day by taking a stroll at the Bandstand Promenade. You can see the famous Bandra-Worli Sea Link bridge and visit the famous Mount Mary Church.

You can also consider visiting the Haji Ali Dargah, a mosque located on an islet near the coast of Worli, or the Siddhivinayak Temple, which is one of Mumbai's most famous Hindu temples.
