Discovering Puri in August 2023

  1. 9:00AM: Jagannath Temple
    Located in the heart of Puri

    Jagannath Temple is a beautiful example of Kalinga architecture. It is dedicated to Lord Jagannath, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu. The temple is an iconic symbol of Puri and attracts thousands of visitors every day. Note: Non-Hindus are not allowed inside the temple.

    The Konark Sun Temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is dedicated to the Sun God. The temple was built in the 13th century and is an architectural marvel. The intricate carvings and sculptures on the temple walls are a testament to the skill of the artisans of that era.

  5. 5:00PM: Raghurajpur Artist Village
    30 minutes (12 miles) from Konark Sun Temple

    Raghurajpur is a quaint little village known for its Pattachitra paintings and palm leaf engravings. You can visit the artisans in their homes and watch them create intricate designs and paintings. You can also purchase some souvenirs to take back home.

If you have some extra time, you can visit the Shree Lokanath Temple, Narendra Tank, or the Sudarshan Crafts Museum. You can also take a day trip to Bhubaneswar to see the famous Lingaraj Temple or to Dhauli to see the ancient rock edicts of Emperor Ashoka.
