5-Day Family Friendly Itinerary for Gangtok in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Tashi Viewpoint
    20 minutes (6.7 km) from Pakyong Airport

    Start your trip to Gangtok with a stunning view of the Kanchenjunga mountain range from Tashi Viewpoint. Afterwards, visit the nearby Ganesh Tok temple and Hanuman Tok temple. In the evening, explore the MG Road and try some local snacks like momos and thukpa.

  2. Day 2: Rumtek Monastery
    45 minutes (23.5 km) from MG Road

    Spend your morning at the largest monastery in Sikkim, Rumtek Monastery. Take a guided tour and learn about the history of Buddhism in Sikkim. After lunch, head to the Banjhakri Waterfall and Park for a relaxing afternoon surrounded by nature. End your day with some shopping at Lal Bazaar.

  3. Day 3: Tsomgo Lake
    2 hours (38.5 km) from MG Road

    Embark on an early morning drive to Tsomgo Lake, a sacred glacial lake. You can enjoy a yak ride or take a walk around the lake. After lunch, visit the nearby Baba Mandir and Nathula Pass. Note that Nathula Pass is only open to Indian nationals with a permit. Return back to your hotel for the night.

  4. Day 4: Namgyal Institute of Tibetology
