4-Day Adventure Itinerary in Dehradun in October 2023

  1. Day 1: Forest Research Institute
    20 minutes (6.5 km) from Dehradun Railway Station

    In the morning, explore the Forest Research Institute- a premier institution in the field of forestry research in India. Take a guided tour to learn about the history, evolution and contribution of Indian forests to the world. In the afternoon, head to the Robber's Cave for a thrilling adventure. Also known as Gucchu Pani, the cave is a natural formation where you can walk through chilly water and climb boulders in the cave. In the evening, visit the Clock Tower- a heritage monument located in the heart of the city. Enjoy some street food and local shopping around the tower.

  2. Day 2: Har Ki Dun Valley
    4 hours (120 km) from Dehradun

    Embark on a day trip to the Har Ki Dun Valley. This trek is a perfect blend of adventure and nature. The valley is surrounded by snow-capped mountains, lush greenery and waterfalls. This trek is a moderate one and can take upto 7-8 hours to complete. You can take a well-deserved break and enjoy a picnic in the beautiful surroundings. Return to Dehradun by evening.

  3. Day 3: Rajaji National Park
    1 hour 20 minutes (40 km) from Dehradun

    Start your day with a safari to Rajaji National Park, covering an area of over 820 sq km. It is a home to diverse flora and fauna including elephants, tigers, leopards, deer and over 315 bird species. Enjoy the thrill of spotting wildlife in their natural habitat. Afternoon, head to Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple, situated at the banks of seasonal Asan river, this ancient temple is known for its splendid architecture and historical significance. Take a dip in the natural water stream and feel rejuvenated. In the evening, visit the Tibetan Market and indulge in some shopping and delicious momos.

  4. Day 4: Mussoorie
    1 hour 20 minutes (34 km) from Dehradun

    Spend your last day exploring the beautiful hill station of Mussoorie. Take a cable car ride to Gun Hill and enjoy a panoramic view of the Himalayas. In the afternoon, visit the Kempty Falls and take a dip in the refreshing water. Take a stroll on the Mall Road and shop for some souvenirs. In the evening, visit the Mussoorie Lake and enjoy boating and other adventure activities.

If you are interested in spirituality and yoga, you can visit the Parmarth Niketan Ashram in Rishikesh. Day trips to Haridwar and Rishikesh can also be planned. For adventure enthusiasts, trekking to Nag Tibba or Kedarkantha can be an exciting experience. Don't forget to try the local delicacies like Aloo ke Gutke, Kandalee ka Saag, Bhang Ki Khatai and Bal Mithai.
