4-Day Itinerary for Puri in October 2023

  1. Day 1: Jagannath Temple
    10 minutes (1.2 km) from Puri Beach

    In the morning, visit the famous Jagannath Temple, one of the four most sacred Hindu pilgrimage sites. It is a towering temple and an architectural masterpiece with intricate carvings and sculptures. Afternoon can be spent exploring the local markets and sampling street food. In the evening, head to Puri Beach to watch the stunning sunset.

  2. Day 2: Konark Sun Temple
    1 hour 30 minutes (35 km) from Jagannath Temple

    Start the morning early and take a trip to Konark Sun Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This temple is known for its unique architecture, which is in the shape of a chariot, with 12 wheels and seven horses. Afternoon can be spent exploring the nearby Chandrabhaga Beach. In the evening, return to Puri and take a stroll on the beach or witness the beautiful sand art at Sudarshan Sand Art Institute.

  3. Day 3: Chilika Lake
    1 hour 20 minutes (45 km) from Jagannath Temple

    In the morning, head to Chilika Lake, the largest brackish water lagoon in Asia and a birdwatcher's paradise. Take a boat ride to spot dolphins and migratory birds. Afternoon can be spent indulging in some water sports or just soaking in the scenic beauty. Apart from the above-mentioned places, one can also visit the Lokanath Temple, Gundicha Temple, and the Puri Jagannath Rath Yatra festival (if it happens during your visit).
