Exploring Nature in Chickmangalore - A 3-Day Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Mullayanagiri Peak
    1 hour 20 minutes (22 miles) from Chickmangalore City Center

    In the morning, we'll head to Mullayanagiri, the highest peak in Karnataka, to experience breathtaking views of the Western Ghats. After a 45-minute drive from Chickmangalore, we'll reach the base of the mountain and then start the trek to the summit. The trek takes around 2 hours and is moderately challenging. Once we reach the peak, we'll take in the stunning views of the rolling hills and lush forests. We'll have a quick picnic lunch before heading down. In the afternoon, we'll visit the nearby Seethalayanagiri Temple and then head back to Chickmangalore.

  2. Day 2: Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary
    1 hour 15 minutes (45 miles) from Chickmangalore City Center

    Today, we'll explore the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary, home to a wide variety of flora and fauna. After breakfast, we'll drive to the sanctuary, which takes around 1.5 hours. Once there, we'll take a jeep safari through the sanctuary to spot animals such as elephants, tigers, leopards, and sloth bears. The safari lasts for around 2 hours. After the safari, we'll visit the Bhadra Dam and have a picnic lunch by the reservoir. In the evening, we'll head back to Chickmangalore.

  3. Day 3: Kudremukh National Park
    2 hours 15 minutes (70 miles) from Chickmangalore City Center

    On our last day, we'll visit the Kudremukh National Park, known for its biodiversity and stunning landscapes. After an early breakfast, we'll drive for around 2 hours to reach the park. Once there, we'll take a guided trek through the park, which lasts for around 4 hours. During the trek, we'll see waterfalls, streams, and lush forests. We'll have a picnic lunch inside the park before heading back to Chickmangalore in the afternoon.

You can also take a day trip to Belur and Halebidu, two ancient temple towns known for their intricate carvings and architecture.
