4-Day Family Friendly Itinerary for Badrinath and Auli in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Badrinath
    2 hours and 30 minutes (91.3 km) from Joshimath, Auli

    Morning: Start your day early with a visit to Badrinath Temple. This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is one of the four Char Dhams in India. The temple opens at 4:30 AM, so make sure to reach there on time to avoid long queues. Take a holy dip in Tapt Kund, a natural hot water spring, before entering the temple. Afternoon: Head to Mana Village, which is India's last village before the Tibetan border. You can visit the Vyas Gufa, where the great Sage Vyas is believed to have scripted the epic, Mahabharata. You can also visit the Ganesh Gufa and Bhim Pul. Evening: Head back to your hotel in Joshimath, Auli and enjoy a warm dinner with your family.

  2. Day 2: Auli
    30 minutes (15 km) from Joshimath

    Morning: Start your day with a scenic view of the sunrise from Auli. Auli is a beautiful hill station known for its skiing slopes. If you're visiting in June, you can enjoy the view of the Himalayas and trek to the highest artificial lake in the world, Auli Lake. Afternoon: Take the Auli Ropeway to the Auli Artificial Lake. It is a 4 km long ropeway and offers stunning views of the Himalayas. You can also visit the Nanda Devi National Park and enjoy a serene picnic with your family. Evening: Head back to your hotel in Joshimath, Auli and enjoy a warm dinner with your family.

  3. Day 3: Badrinath and Auli
    1 hour and 30 minutes (46.6 km) from Joshimath, Auli to Badrinath

    Morning: Visit Badrinath Temple again in the morning to avoid the crowd. After that, head to the Vasudhara Falls. The falls are about 5 km from the Mana Village and require a small trek. Afternoon: Head back to Joshimath, Auli and visit one of the oldest temples in India, Kalpavriksha. This temple is believed to be more than 1200 years old and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Evening: Enjoy a stroll around Joshimath, Auli and take in the local culture. You can also shop for souvenirs for your family and friends.

  4. Day 4: Departure
    9 hours and 30 minutes (287 km) from Auli to Dehradun

    Morning: Check out from your hotel and head back to Dehradun. On the way, you can visit the Rudraprayag, which is the confluence of the rivers Alaknanda and Mandakini. Afternoon: Have lunch at one of the local restaurants in Rudraprayag and continue your journey back to Dehradun. Evening: Take a flight or train from Dehradun to your next destination.
