East Germany: A Mother-Daughter Trip Full of Nature, Culture, and Outdoor Activities

  1. Day 1: Leipzig

In the afternoon, visit the Königstein Fortress, a historic landmark built in the 13th century. Finish off the day by taking a scenic boat ride along the Elbe River before heading back to Leipzig.

    Begin your day by visiting the iconic Zwinger Palace, a masterpiece of Baroque architecture and home to several museums and galleries. In the afternoon, take a stroll through the historic Old Town and visit the Frauenkirche, a Lutheran church restored after being destroyed during World War II bombings. Continue your walk to the Dresden Castle and, if time permits, visit the nearby Dresden Transport Museum. End your day with a delicious dinner in one of the many local restaurants.

Don't miss the chance to visit the city of Weimar, known as the birthplace of the German Enlightenment and home to several UNESCO World Heritage Sites. If you're interested in hiking, visit the Harz National Park, located about 2.5 hours from Leipzig.
