2-Day Adventure Itinerary for Chikamagaluru and Coorg in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Chikamagaluru
    Start at Shankar Falls (30 minutes, 10.5 miles from Chikamagaluru bus stand)

    In the morning, visit Shankar Falls and take a refreshing swim in the natural pool. Then, head to Mullayanagiri, the highest peak in Karnataka, for a challenging hike with breathtaking views. Stop for lunch at a local restaurant and try some traditional Kannada dishes. In the afternoon, visit the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary for a jeep safari and spot some rare species. End the day with a relaxing evening at your hotel or try some stargazing at the estate.

  2. Day 2: Coorg
    Start at Dubare Elephant Camp (2 hours, 69 miles from Chikamagaluru)

    Start the day at Dubare Elephant Camp where you can interact with elephants, bathe them, and take a ride. Then, head to Abbey Falls for a refreshing dip and some amazing views. For lunch, try some local Kodava cuisine at a nearby restaurant. After lunch, visit the Namdroling Monastery, the largest teaching center of the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. In the evening, enjoy a peaceful sunset at Raja's Seat and indulge in some shopping for local spices and coffee before heading back to your hotel.

Recommendations

Don't miss out on the scenic drive to Coorg and stop at the beautiful Manjarabad Fort on the way. If you have more time, consider visiting the coffee plantations in Chikamagaluru and taking a coffee tour. You can also take a day trip to the picturesque hill station of Kemmanagundi.

For adventure enthusiasts, you can go white water rafting at Barapole River or trek to Tadiandamol Peak in Coorg.
