Family-Friendly Itinerary for Vrindavan, Barsana, Gokul in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Vrindavan
    15 minutes (4.2 km) from Mathura Junction Railway Station

    In the morning, visit the Banke Bihari Temple, one of the oldest temples in Vrindavan, and take part in the morning aarti (prayer ceremony). In the afternoon, visit the Prem Mandir, a beautiful temple dedicated to Radha and Krishna. In the evening, watch the Sound and Light Show at the nearby Keshi Ghat, which narrates the story of Lord Krishna and his leelas (divine plays).

  2. Day 2: Barsana
    40 minutes (26 km) from Vrindavan

    Start your day by visiting the Barsana Dham, a beautiful temple complex with several shrines and gardens. In the afternoon, visit the Radha Rani Temple, which is dedicated to Radha, Lord Krishna's consort. In the evening, take part in the Lathmar Holi, a unique festival where women beat men with sticks and sing Holi songs.

  3. Day 3: Gokul
    1 hour 10 minutes (43 km) from Barsana

    Begin your day by visiting the Gokulnanda Temple, a beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Krishna. In the afternoon, visit the Kesi Ghat, where Lord Krishna killed the demon Kesi. In the evening, visit the Nanda Bhavan, the home of Lord Krishna's foster parents.

  4. Day 4: Vrindavan
    50 minutes (29 km) from Gokul

    Start your day by visiting the Sri Radha Damodar Temple, which was established by Srila Jiva Goswami. In the afternoon, visit the ISKCON Temple, which is one of the largest and most popular temples in Vrindavan. In the evening, visit the Yamuna River and take part in the Yamuna Aarti, a prayer ceremony dedicated to the river goddess Yamuna.

Recommendations

You may also consider visiting the Govardhan Hill, which is about an hour's drive from Vrindavan. You can also take a day trip to Agra to see the Taj Mahal and other historical monuments. To maximize your fun, try local street food like chaat, kachori, lassi, and rabri. You can also shop for handicrafts, jewellery, and souvenirs at the local markets.
