2-Day Itinerary for Pondicherry in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Sri Aurobindo Ashram
    10 minutes (3km) from Pondicherry Promenade

    In the morning, visit Sri Aurobindo Ashram, a spiritual community founded by Sri Aurobindo and his disciple, Mirra Alfassa. The ashram is a peaceful oasis in the heart of the city, and you'll find many devotees meditating and practicing yoga. In the afternoon, explore Pondicherry Promenade, a 1.5km long beach facing the Bay of Bengal. Stroll along the promenade, enjoy the sea breeze, and catch the sunset. In the evening, visit the Manakula Vinayagar Temple, a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha. The temple is known for its elephant blessing ceremony, which takes place twice a day.

  2. Day 2: Auroville
    30 minutes (12km) from Pondicherry Museum

    In the morning, go to Auroville, an experimental township founded by Mirra Alfassa, also known as The Mother. Auroville is home to around 2,500 people from over 50 countries, living together in harmony and striving towards a sustainable future. Visit the Matrimandir, a golden globe-shaped structure that serves as the spiritual center of Auroville. In the afternoon, head over to Chunnambar Boat House and take a boat ride to Paradise Beach. The beach is secluded and offers a serene environment to relax and unwind. In the evening, visit the Pondicherry Museum to learn about the history and culture of Pondicherry.
