3-Day Adventure Itinerary for Chikmagalur in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Mullayanagiri
    30 minutes (9.7 miles) from Chikmagalur city center

    Morning: Hike up to the highest peak in Karnataka, Mullayanagiri. The trail is challenging but the stunning views of the Western Ghats and the sunrise from the top make it worth it.

    Afternoon: Head to Jhari Waterfalls, a serene waterfall amidst the lush green forests. Take a refreshing dip in the cool water and relax on the rocks.

    Evening: Visit the famous Baba Budangiri shrine, a pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Muslims. The shrine is surrounded by picturesque hills and offers a peaceful atmosphere to meditate and reflect.

  2. Day 2: Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary
    1 hour 20 minutes (47.5 miles) from Chikmagalur city center

    Morning: Explore the untouched wilderness of the Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary, a protected area for tigers, leopards, elephants, and over 120 species of birds. Take a jeep safari or a trek with a guide.

    Afternoon: Visit the Kallathigiri Falls, a hidden gem with a breathtaking view of the Western Ghats. The falls cascade down from a height of 400 ft into a natural pool, perfect for swimming and diving.

  3. Day 3: Kemmanagundi
    1 hour 45 minutes (25.7 miles) from Chikmagalur city center

    Morning: Trek to the Z Point, one of the most scenic viewpoints in Kemmanagundi. The trail is moderate and takes you through dense forests, waterfalls, and streams.

    Afternoon: Visit the Hebbe Falls, a picturesque waterfall with a drop of 550 ft. Take a dip in the natural pool and enjoy the serene surroundings.

    Evening: Take a leisurely stroll in the Kemmanagundi Botanical Gardens, home to exotic plants, colorful flowers, and rare species of birds. Relax and unwind amidst nature before heading back to Chikmagalur.
