Subtract one of the Aeolian Islands, or visit the nearby Messina area to admire ancient architecture, the beautiful beaches of San Vito Lo Capo or the Lo Zingaro nature reserve. Make sure to book tickets in advance, especially in peak season. Renting a car is a cost-effective way to explore different parts and have the freedom to go where you want when you want. Keep in mind that many museums and archaeological sites can be closed on Mondays, and religious places require appropriate attire. When dining out, remember to try the traditional Sicilian’s food and Sicilian wine and indulge in the local pastries and granita.
