2-Day Trekking Itinerary for Adventure Seekers in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Griffith Park
30 minutes (8 miles) from Downtown Los Angeles

In the morning, we’ll start our adventure with a hike in Griffith Park, one of the largest urban parks in the US. We’ll trek to the Hollywood Sign, which offers a stunning panoramic view of the city. Afterward, we’ll head to Trails Cafe for a quick snack before we continue our journey. In the afternoon, we’ll explore Bronson Caves and hike to Mount Lee. We'll end the day by seeing the sunset from the top. At night, we'll head to The Morrison for some local craft beers and delicious food.

  2. Day 2: Joshua Tree National Park
2 hours 30 minutes (140 miles) from Downtown Los Angeles

Today, we’ll take a day trip to Joshua Tree National Park and experience its breathtaking scenery. We’ll start our day with a moderate hike to Hidden Valley, an enclosed area surrounded by massive rock formations. In the afternoon, we'll explore the famous Cholla Cactus Garden, which is home to thousands of cacti. We'll end our day with a beautiful sunset view at Keys View. At night, we'll camp under the stars in the park.

Recommendations

If you have time, you should check out the stunning Malibu Creek State Park. It's great for hiking, swimming, and camping. You can also visit the Channel Islands National Park for kayaking and snorkeling.

For day trips, I recommend visiting the beautiful Santa Barbara or the charming city of San Diego.

To maximize your fun, bring comfortable hiking shoes, a hydration pack, and snacks. Don't forget to bring a camera to capture the beautiful scenery.
