Two Days in Ujjain: Exploring the Spiritual Capital of India

1. Day 1: Visit Ancient Temples and Holy Ghats
   10 minutes (3.2 km) from Ujjain Junction Railway Station

   Morning: Start your day with a visit to the Mahakaleshwar Temple, one of the twelve jyotirlingas in India. Witness the sacred Bhasma Aarti at 4:00 AM where the Shivling is bathed in ash and milk.    Afternoon: Enjoy a boat ride at the Ram Ghat, a holy place on the banks of River Kshipra. Then head to the Harsiddhi Temple, one of the Shaktipeeths in India where parts of Sati's body fell. Savor the local food at the famous Tarani ki Kachori and Ladoo Wale, located just outside the temple.
   Evening: Experience the grandeur of the Kal Bhairav Temple, dedicated to the fierce manifestation of Lord Shiva. Afterward, walk along the scenic banks of the Shipra river to witness the evening aarti at the Triveni Ghat.

2. Day 2: Explore the Ancient Ruins and Museums
   20 minutes (8.7 km) from Mahakaleshwar Temple

   Morning: Start with a visit to the ancient ruins of the Vikram Kirti Mandir Museum, a museum dedicated to the life and achievements of King Vikramaditya. Afterward, head to the Bhartrihari Caves, named after the great philosopher and poet Bhartrihari who meditated here.
   Afternoon: Visit the Ved Shala Observatory, an astronomical wonder built by Maharaja Jai Singh. Enjoy a guided tour of the observatory and learn about the scientific techniques used by ancient astronomers.
   Evening: Wrap up the trip with a visit to the Kaliadeh Palace, situated on an island in the middle of River Shipra. The palace was built by the king of Avanti, and it was a center of cultural and political activities in ancient times. Enjoy a stunning sunset view from the palace before heading back to your hotel.

If you have an extra day, visit the Chintaman Ganesh Temple, located on the scenic banks of the Shipra river. The temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha and is believed to fulfill all the wishes of its devotees.
For a day trip, visit the nearby city of Indore, known for its street food and historical landmarks such as the Rajwada Palace and Lal Bagh Palace.
