A 3-Day Itinerary for Sakleshpura in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Manjarabad Fort
    30 minutes (12.5 km) from Sakleshpura

    In the morning, you will visit the Manjarabad Fort. This historical fort was built by Tipu Sultan in the late 1700s. The fort is in the shape of a star and offers a great view of the Western Ghats. In the afternoon, you can visit the Hemavathi Dam, which is a great spot for picnics and boating. In the evening, head to the Shettihalli Church, which is a beautiful abandoned church that gets submerged in water during monsoons.

  2. Day 2: Bisle Viewpoint
    1 hour 15 minutes (40 km) from Sakleshpura

    Start your day early and head to the Bisle Viewpoint. This viewpoint offers a breathtaking view of three mountain ranges, namely, Pushpagiri, Dodda Betta, and Kumaraparvatha. Spend the morning here and then head to the Manjehalli Waterfalls, which is a great spot for swimming and relaxing. In the evening, you can visit the Sakaleshwara Temple, which is a beautiful 12th-century temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.

  3. Day 3: Green Route Trek
    1 hour 30 minutes (55 km) from Sakleshpura

    On your final day, you can go for a trek on the Green Route Trek, which is a 22 km trek that passes through some of the most scenic vistas in the Western Ghats. If trekking is not your thing, you can head to the Belur and Halebidu Temples, which are known for their beautiful architecture. In the evening, you can head back to Sakleshpura and visit the Manjarabad Fort again, this time to catch the sunset.

Recommendations

If you have an extra day, you can head to the Kukke Subramanya Temple, which is a famous temple dedicated to Lord Kartikeya. You can also consider going to the Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary for some wildlife spotting. To maximize your fun, make sure to try some of the local cuisine, such as the Akki Rotti, Kadabu, and Neer Dosa.
