Two Days in Shivamogga Itinerary in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Jog Falls
    1 hour 20 minutes (43.5 km) from Shivamogga City

    Morning: Start your day early and head to Jog Falls, one of the highest waterfalls in India. Witness the stunning views of the water cascading down from a height of 830 feet. You can also take a boat ride to the base of the falls to experience its true magnificence.

    Afternoon: Enjoy a traditional lunch at one of the local restaurants and taste some authentic Kannada cuisine. After lunch, visit the nearby Sigandur Chowdeshwari Temple, located on the banks of the River Sharavati. The temple has a unique history and is believed to have been built during the 16th century.

    Evening: Head back to Shivamogga City and visit the Mandagadde Bird Sanctuary. The sanctuary is home to various species of birds like egrets, cormorants, and herons. You can also spot some migratory birds during the winter months.

  2. Day 2: Kundadri Hill
    1 hour 30 minutes (57.9 km) from Shivamogga City

    Morning: Drive early to Kundadri Hill, a picturesque hill station located in the Western Ghats. Go on a scenic trek to the top of the hill and witness the spectacular views of the sunrise. The hill is also known for its Jain Temple dedicated to Thirthankara.

    Afternoon: After breakfast, visit the Kavaledurga Fort, an ancient fort located on a hilltop. The fort has a rich history and is believed to have been built during the 9th century. Explore the ruins of the fort and enjoy the scenic views from the top.

    Evening: On your way back to Shivamogga City, visit the Sakrebailu Elephant Camp. Watch the majestic elephants being bathed and fed by their mahouts. You can also go on an elephant ride and get up close and personal with these gentle giants.

Recommendations

If you have time, consider visiting the Tunga Anicut Dam or the Gajanur Dam. You can also take a day trip to the nearby Agumbe Rainforest and explore its rich biodiversity.
