5-Day City Experience Itinerary in Bogota, Colombia for July 2023

  1. Day 1: La Candelaria Neighborhood
    20 minutes (8 miles) from El Dorado International Airport

    In the morning, start your journey in the vibrant and historic La Candelaria neighborhood. Visit the Plaza de Bolivar and the impressive Presidential Palace. In the afternoon, take a tour of the Gold Museum, which showcases the country's rich history and gold artifacts. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Colombian dinner at one of the neighborhood's many restaurants.

  2. Day 2: Monserrate Hill
    30 minutes (3.7 miles) from La Candelaria

    Start your day early and take the funicular up to Monserrate Hill for breathtaking views of the city. Spend the morning exploring the hilltop sanctuary and its beautiful gardens. In the afternoon, visit the Botero Museum, which houses a vast collection of works by Fernando Botero and other Latin American artists. In the evening, try some of Colombia's famous coffee at one of the local cafes.

  3. Day 3: Usaquén Neighborhood
    40 minutes (9.4 miles) from Monserrate Hill

    Start your day with a visit to the Paloquemao Market, where you can see and taste fresh local produce. In the afternoon, head to the Usaquén neighborhood for a glimpse of colonial Bogota. You can browse through the flea market for souvenirs, visit the Hacienda Santa Barbara for some shopping or visit the Delirio Exquisito restaurant for some of the best food in the city. In the evening, relax in one of the many city parks.

  4. Day 4: Zona G
    20 minutes (7.5 miles) from Usaquén Neighborhood

    Start your day at the Zona G for breakfast. This neighborhood is known for its culinary offerings and has many cafes and restaurants to choose from. In the afternoon, visit the National Museum of Colombia, which houses important works of art and historical exhibits. In the evening, enjoy the nightlife in the Chapinero neighborhood.

  5. Day 5: Salt Cathedral of Zipaquirá
    60 minutes (29 miles) from Chapinero Neighborhood

    Take a day trip to the Salt Cathedral of Zipaquira, one of Colombia's most unique attractions. The cathedral, built inside a salt mine, is a marvel of engineering and design. Spend the day exploring the underground tunnels and marveling at the cathedral's architecture. In the evening, return to Bogota for a final dinner at one of the city's many restaurants.

Recommendations

If you have time, consider taking a day trip to Villa de Leyva, one of Colombia's most beautiful colonial towns. You can also visit the Chingaza National Natural Park for some hiking and wildlife viewing. To maximize your fun, be sure to try some of the local food and coffee, and take advantage of the city's vibrant nightlife.
