4-Day Nature Itinerary in Salalah, June 2023

  1. Day 1: Wadi Darbat and Taqah Castle
    25 minutes (16.7 km) from Salalah Airport

    In the morning, head to Wadi Darbat, a beautiful natural park with waterfalls, lakes and lush greenery. Enjoy a leisurely walk around the park and take in the stunning views of the surrounding mountains. In the afternoon, visit the nearby Taqah Castle, a historical fortress that offers a glimpse into the region's rich heritage. Explore the castle's courtyards, old rooms and towers. In the evening, head back to Salalah for dinner and some rest.

  2. Day 2: Ayn Razat and Jebel Samhan Nature Reserve
    25 minutes (20 km) from Salalah City Center

    Start your day with a visit to Ayn Razat, a natural spring with crystal clear waters surrounded by palm trees and mountains. Take a refreshing dip in the pool and relax in the peaceful surroundings. In the afternoon, make your way to the Jebel Samhan Nature Reserve, a rugged mountain range with breathtaking views of the coast and the desert. Go on a hiking trail and explore the reserve's diverse flora and fauna. Stay until sunset for a spectacular view of the city lights below.

  3. Day 3: Mughsail Beach and Marneef Cave
    55 minutes (40 km) from Salalah City Center

    Today, head to Mughsail Beach, a long stretch of white sand beach with turquoise waters and impressive rock formations. Take a stroll along the beach and enjoy the sound of the waves. Have lunch at one of the beachside cafes and try some local seafood. In the afternoon, visit the nearby Marneef Cave, a series of natural limestone caves with stunning views of the beach and the Arabian Sea. Catch the sunset from one of the viewing platforms and take in the colors of the sky.

  4. Day 4: Al Mughsail and Fazayah Beach
    1 hour 10 minutes (70 km) from Salalah City Center

    Begin your last day in Salalah with a visit to Al Mughsail, a beautiful coastal area with natural blowholes that shoot seawater high up in the air. Walk along the cliffs and watch the waves crash against the rocks. Have lunch at one of the local restaurants and try some traditional Omani dishes. In the afternoon, head to Fazayah Beach, a secluded beach with white sand and turquoise waters. Spend some time soaking up the sun and swimming in the clear water. Return to Salalah for your last dinner in the city.

Recommendations

If you have more time, you can also visit the Al Baleed Archaeological Site, the Frankincense Land Museum, and the Wadi Dirbat Protected Area. Day trips to the nearby towns of Mirbat and Sadah are also worth considering. To maximize your fun, try some of the local activities such as camel riding, dune bashing, and snorkeling.
