4-Day Itinerary for Goa in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Fort Aguada
    25 minutes (9.3 km) from Dabolim Airport

    In the morning, visit Fort Aguada, which was built in the 17th century by the Portuguese. It was used to guard against the Dutch and the Marathas. In the afternoon, take a short drive to Candolim Beach, where you can relax and enjoy the sun. In the evening, head to the Anjuna Flea Market to shop for souvenirs and local handicrafts.

  2. Day 2: Basilica of Bom Jesus
    30 minutes (15.2 km) from Candolim Beach

    In the morning, visit the Basilica of Bom Jesus, a UNESCO World Heritage site that holds the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier. In the afternoon, explore the nearby spice plantations and learn about the different spices grown in Goa. In the evening, head to Panaji, the capital of Goa, to enjoy some authentic Goan cuisine.

  3. Day 3: Dudhsagar Falls
    1 hour 30 minutes (65 km) from Panaji

    In the morning, take a scenic drive to Dudhsagar Falls, one of the tallest waterfalls in India. You can take a dip in the refreshing water or go for a short hike in the surrounding forest. In the afternoon, visit the nearby Tambdi Surla Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is one of the oldest temples in Goa. In the evening, relax and enjoy the sunset at Palolem Beach.

  4. Day 4: Chapora Fort
    50 minutes (22.5 km) from Palolem Beach

    In the morning, visit Chapora Fort, which was built by the Portuguese in the early 16th century. The fort offers panoramic views of the Arabian Sea and the surrounding landscape. In the afternoon, head to Baga Beach to soak up the sun and enjoy some water sports. In the evening, take a cruise on the Mandovi River and enjoy some live music and dance performances.

Recommendations

If you have time, consider visiting the Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary, the Museum of Christian Art, or the Reis Magos Fort. You can also take a day trip to the beautiful Dudhsagar Waterfalls or the scenic Divar Island. To maximize your fun, try some of the local dishes like vindaloo, fish curry, and bebinca.
